What is body sculpting?

Body sculpting, also known as body contouring, is a noninvasive aesthetic procedure that permanently eliminates areas of fat that seem impossible to get rid of, like love handles and fat on your upper arms or thighs.

Body sculpting is extremely effective, but it’s not intended to be a weight loss procedure, so it’s recommended for people who are close to their healthy body weight. Our estheticians perform body sculpting at Holladay Dermatology Clinic using the truSculpt® 3D medical device.

How does truSculpt 3D eliminate fat and cellulite?

The truSculpt 3D system uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to deliver heat to fat cells deep below your skin while maintaining a comfortable temperature at the skin’s surface. RF energy heats fat cells to the precise temperature needed to destroy the cells. As they liquefy, the waste is absorbed and removed naturally by your body and the fat is permanently eliminated.

TruSculpt 3D can also diminish the appearance of cellulite. As RF-produced heat breaks down fat cells, it also contracts and tightens the skin. The two actions combined help to smooth cellulite and improve overall tone.

What should you expect during and after the procedure?

RF waves are released from flat applicators placed against your skin, then gently pushed over the targeted treatment area. Our estheticians can treat small and large areas of your body because the truSculpt 3D comes with differently sized applicators.

It takes about 15 minutes to treat one area, so your total treatment time depends on how many areas of fat you want to target.

You won’t need to schedule downtime because side effects are mild. Even though you may experience temporary swelling or redness in the treated areas, you should be able to get back to your normal activities as soon as your procedure is finished.

When will you see results?

You’ll begin to see results in about 6-8 weeks because it takes time for the body to process and flush out all the destroyed fat cells. The change gradually continues over the next three months. You may lose up to 24% of the targeted fat after one session.*
