Celebrate National Healthy Skin Month by Booking a Consultation Today

November is National Healthy Skin Month. Celebrate it by booking a consultation with Dr. Robert Topham at Holladay Dermatology & Aesthetics. Take the opportunity to learn about a variety of services we offer that can improve your skin’s health and appearance.

Remove moles and warts

Over the past decade, the number of new melanoma cases diagnosed in the United States has grown by 53%. Fortunately, melanoma isn’t difficult to treat when you catch it in its early stages.

Having Dr. Topham examine your moles and warts helps you prevent all types of skin cancers from developing or spreading. Of course, not all moles and warts show signs of cancer. You can still have skin growths removed to improve your appearance.

Treat acne safely

These days, you have a lot of acne treatment options. Some of them are safer than others, though. For instance, some prescription medications work well for people with severe acne, but they may have side effects that could include dizziness, nervousness, joint pain, back pain, and nosebleeds.

Dr. Topham can help you find an acne treatment that works well for you without causing worrisome side effects. Depending on your specific case, he may recommend using prescription antibiotics and other medications, using light therapy to kill acne-causing bacteria, or using a procedure called “drainage and extraction” to remove larger cysts from your face without leaving a scar.

Dr. Topham can also teach you effective ways to reduce breakouts. Ideally, we can eliminate your acne while improving the health of your skin.

Remove bothersome tattoos

A lot of clients come to us with tattoos they now regret. Many of them have heard that tattoo removal hurts more than getting their tattoos in the first place, but that’s not usually the case with our enlighten™ laser.

The enlighten laser penetrates your skin so it can target the ink, heating up the ink until it is destroyed. Once it breaks up the ink pigments, your body can naturally eliminate what’s left of the ink.

We minimize pain while removing tattoos by applying topical anesthetics to the area. Not many of our patients report negative side effects after their treatments; however, you must protect your skin from sunlight for at least six to eight weeks while the area heals.

Keep in mind that tattoo removal usually requires several treatments. A lot of factors affect the number of treatments you need. Dark tattoos usually require more treatments than light ones, and newer tattoos often need more treatments than older ones. Dr. Topham can discuss the process and develop a treatment plan during your consultation.

Find safe skin care products that really work

Few people have the information that they need to select effective products for their skin that don’t contain harmful ingredients. When you go to the drugstore, you can find dozens of skin care options, and it’s nearly impossible to know which one you should choose.

Even something as seemingly simple as choosing a sunscreen can become confusing. We recommend EltaMD® sunscreens because they work well on all skin types and don’t contain any parabens. Dr. Topham can also recommend products for treating fungal infections, repairing skin after a surgery, and keeping your lips hydrated and protected from the sun’s damaging rays.

Take advantage of National Healthy Skin Month by scheduling a consultation at Holladay Dermatology & Aesthetics by contacting our Holladay, Utah, office today. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you keep your skin healthy year-round.
